Principles of Architecture
Recommended Grade Level:9-10
Course Description: The course is designed to teach students an understanding of the basic architectural and construction principles. Students will learn to read and draw blueprints and be able to use Revit to design buildings using the principals taught in the beginning of the school year. Revit, computer software, will be taught by the end of the year. Topics Covered: On the Architectural side of this course, we will be identifying different types of structures and how they fill the world around us. We will learn to measure using an architect’s scale. The construction part of the course, we will be measuring, using mathematical measurements to draw and construct models to scale. You will learn basic carpentry skills and techniques. Have you ever wanted to design your own house? Math skills and a flare for design will help. |

Course Description: Students acquire the advanced knowledge of design, design history, design techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for commercial or residential architectural purposes. Students gain knowledge and skills specific to those needed to prepare for a postsecondary degree or entry into an architecture or construction related field. |
Practicum in Architectural Design
Recommended Grade Level: 12
Course Description:A course designed to provide technical instruction in architectural design. Safety and career opportunities are included in addition to work ethics and architectural design study. Instruction may be delivered through laboratory training, independent study, or career preparation arrangements. |
